Ninnekah High School Seniors went to the Rural Electric Company Conference yesterday. Every year REC brings in a speaker that helps our youth to keep reaching their leadership potential. This year their speaker was Rhett Laubach. Some okies will remember him serving as a past state FFA vice president and then State FFA president. Rural electric companies offer youth leadership programs such as summits, tours, and camps. These programs help students develop their leadership skills and learn about their communities. Gentry Drennan, was awarded the REC Youth Summit Scholarship for $500. This will help further his studies at SWOSU.

Ninnekah Basketball Junior High The Junior High Lady Owls and Owls had an impressive week, starting with a strong performance against Maysville, where the Lady Owls triumphed 41-6, and both boys' teams secured narrow victories, with the 7th and 8th graders winning 16-12 and JH winning 38-31, respectively. They faced challenging Amber-Pocasset teams on Thursday but continued to show improvement and determination. The Junior High teams will compete at home against Alex on Monday, travel to Bray-Doyle on Tuesday, and return for Homecoming to challenge Verden on Thursday. High School The High School Owls and Lady Owls had a successful week, with the girls playing hard but losing to Maysville in their home game, while the boys decisively defeated the Warriors 62-34. Both teams continued their strong performance against Paoli, where the Lady Owls won 31-28 and the Owls triumphed 62-32. However, the Owls faced a setback against Union City on Saturday, losing the game despite a solid effort. Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday at Bray-Doyle and will host Alex for homecoming on Friday. GO OWLS 🦉 ❤️ 🏀
