summer

What an incredible summer it has been for our Ninnekah Owls, both on the basketball court and the baseball diamond!

Lady Owls Basketball Squad

Our high school Lady Owls basketball team hit the court with determination, competing in 33 games over just 23 days. Each challenge was met with intensity and heart, showcasing our commitment to growth and teamwork.

We participated in three significant team camps:

  • Warner Camp: We focused on fundamental skills, and we began to gel as a cohesive unit.

  • Lindsay Camp: We sharpened our defensive strategies and increased our pace of play.

  • Broken Bow Camp: We culminated our summer with fierce competition and strengthened team chemistry.

This schedule was about more than just wins and losses; it was about building relationships and setting the foundation for the upcoming season. We are proud of how our team showed up, stayed connected, and competed fiercely every time we laced up our shoes.

Ninnekah Owls Boys Basketball Team

The Ninnekah Owls Boys Basketball Team kicked off their summer journey on May 27th with a trip to Carnegie for a team camp that included both High School and Junior High squads. The teams demonstrated impressive efficiency and teamwork, with the Junior High group gaining invaluable insights over the two-day camp.

On May 29th and 30th, the High School team participated in the Wayne Summer League, where they faced off against Milburn, Thackerville, and Wayne. The Owls excelled, emerging victorious in all three scrimmages. The following Monday, they returned to Wayne to compete against Little Axe and Wetumka.

On June 5th, they briefly ventured to the Chickasha Summer League, battling Norman and Granite. The excitement continued on June 9th and 10th at the Alex Team Camp, where they faced teams from Alex, Minco, Washington JV, Fletcher, and Lindsay.

Back at the Chickasha Summer League on June 12th, the Owls took on Wewoka and Central High. Their final team camp of the summer was at Anadarko from June 16th to 18th, where they played against Carnegie, Mountain View-Gotebo, Canute, Sentinel, Comanche, Cordell, Apache, Fort Cobb-Broxton, and Frederick.

Throughout the summer, the boys gained invaluable experience in teamwork, shot selection, and collaboration. As we look ahead, the High School Owls are set to attend the Gym Rat Camp in Anadarko next week, focusing on skill development and game application. We are optimistic about the future as they prepare for the upcoming fall season, eagerly anticipating how their summer growth will translate into success in the 2025-2026 season.

Ninnekah Owls Baseball Program

The Ninnekah Owls Baseball Program started their Summer League play with an exciting 13-9 victory in Hinton. Following this success, the team returned home to face Riverside on May 27th and June 2nd. On June 10th, Hinton visited Ninnekah, and the Owls showcased their skills once again, defeating the Comets 14-7.

On June 12th, the Owls traveled to Lookeba for the Summer League, where they faced Minco and Navajo, gaining valuable lessons in handling various game situations. Their journey continued on June 16th, competing against Elmore City and Alex in Alex, where they earned a win against Alex with a score of 9-4. The next day, the Owls hosted a double-header against Lexington, winning the first game 3-1.

Meanwhile, the Junior High Owls are actively participating in the Putnam City Junior High Summer League, having already played four games. They are dedicated to improving their skills and strategies with just a couple of games left next week, focusing on finishing strong before their first practice of the Fall 2025 season begins on July 15th.

In summary, it's been a summer filled with hard work, growth, and teamwork for our Ninnekah Owls across both basketball and baseball programs. We are excited to carry this momentum into the upcoming seasons!
