March 18, 2020

Ninnekah Public Schools is working with local, state, and national authorities to navigate through this unprecedented health crisis. As you probably know, the state board of education voted to close all Oklahoma schools until at least April 6 due to the COVID-19 virus; this includes all activities, practices, and events. Currently, we do not have answers regarding state testing, a prom date, or extending the school year.

Beginning March 23, Ninnekah Public Schools will be offering a breakfast and lunch at no charge to any children ages 18 and under, whether or not they attend Ninnekah School. This will be on a take-out basis available for pick up at the Ninnekah School Cafeteria from 10 am – 2 pm, Monday – Friday. This service will continue until April 3. If the school closure is extended, we will try to extend the service. Delivery for those unable to pick up will be available on a limited basis by contacting the school through your child’s teacher, the app, or on Facebook.

We are committed to the well-being of our students and are utilizing the extra time to fumigate and sterilize high traffic areas on our campus. We are also dedicated to providing a quality education for all our students and encourage parents to take advantage of the free educational resources online, which we will be posting links to on our website.

This is uncharted territory for everyone. In my 22 years in education, there has never been a mass school shut down.  During this difficult time, it is imperative that we work together to ensure the health and safety of all our children. Please continue to check the app, our website, and Facebook page for updates as I will continue to communicate with everyone as information becomes available. We can work together to overcome these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Todd Bunch,

Ninnekah Public School Superintendent
